Still Alice
Sunday, March 8th, 2009 | American Literature | No Comments
This novel by Lisa Genova was quite interesting. A successful university professor discovers her memory is failing her; she has early onset Alzheimer’s disease (eoad). She has 3 20-something children and a professor husband and a full load of classes to deal with. Slowly her job disappears, her relationship changes with her family, and even small pleasures such as a daily walk fade away. And yet she herself is unchanged; she is “still Alice”.
This was a fast-paced and interesting look at relationships, identity and community, as well as educational about a pretty tragic diagnosis. I found it very readable. A good book.
